- It looks like Rousimar Palhares' ban from the UFC for unsportsmanlike conduct won't just extend to that promotion. Bellator CEO Bjorn Rebney told TMZ that his promotion has no room for a fighter that is as prone to injuring other fighters by holding onto submissions for too long as is Palhares.
"Risks already exist for the courageous, world class fighters who enter the Bellator cage; without adding further unnecessary risks into the mix," Rebney said. "Fighter safety is paramount to me and my team."
No word yet as to where Palhares may end up, but it appears as though his penchant for injuring other fighters will hinder his opportunities with other promotions.
- Few fights have been as hyped as Rashad Evans' initial title fight against UFC light heavyweight champ Jon Jones. On fight night, the two former training partners engaged in a less-than-thrilling bout that Evans wound up losing. Though he was outclassed by the champ in their first meeting, Evans recently told Fighters Only that he's looking for another go at the 205-pound kingpin.
"I hit a bit of a slump losing two fights in a row, so now I am getting back on track with my win against Dan Henderson," said Evans. "I want to get back in the race, I want to get another fight with Jon Jones, he's at the top right now and I want to work my way back up there and get another chance to fight him."
Evans is currently scheduled to face Chael Sonnen at UFC 167 this November.
