Mattel New Arrivals

Mattel has released new images of its first figures of Bruno Sammartino and Paul Heyman, among others.

When the newest WWE figures from Mattel hit shelves in time for the holidays, the packaging will be noticeably different.

Starting with Basic Series 35, Mattel’s WWE packaging will shift from a plain white card with a wrestler’s image in the upper right corner to a colorful blue and yellow scheme with the wrestler’s picture in the upper left. This is the third type of packaging since Mattel took over the line in 2010; in late 2011, Mattel shifted from the original black packaging to the aforementioned white.

Mattel and Ringside Collectibles unveiled images of three new series of figures earlier this week. Basic Series 35 features many of the same old wrestlers, but with updated looks. Included are a Daniel Bryan with larger beard and black trunks, Triple H with a buzz cut, Cody Rhodes with a moustache (and knee pads!), Damien Sandow with white trunks, and Jinder Mahal in 3MB gear. There’s also a Kane figure that looks very similar to the last few Kane toys.

Battle Packs 25 features three new two-packs on the blue and yellow packaging. The most popular in this wave of toys is bound to be a Brock Lesnar/Paul Heyman set, which marks Heyman’s Mattel debut and also includes a blue stretcher. Rounding out the set are a C.M. Punk/Undertaker two-pack (with an urn) and Mark Henry/Ryback (with a trash can).

Mattel’s Elite line is the most popular among collectors, and Series 25 includes at least three figures that are bound to be a hit. This series includes the first Elite-style figures of Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose, both of which are incredibly detailed.

Also included is the first Mattel toy of Bruno Sammartino, which comes with a WWE Hall of Fame plaque. The Mattel figure is very different from older Jakks and LJN toys in that it depicts a much younger Bruno.

The series also includes new figures of Brodus Clay, Sheamus, and Sin Cara, all of whom have multiple figures that seem to sit on retail store shelves for extended periods of time.

All three series are scheduled to be released between late-October and mid-November. Images of the new figures are available at RingsideCollectibles.com .
